Other changes you will see based on the new guidance from Centers for Medicare Services (CMS):
- Disclaimers. You will hear more of these on the phone and added to other forms of communication
- Call recordings. All of our conversations discussing plan benefits must be recorded in their entirety
- TV Commercials. The massive call centers that run these were purposely confusing and misleading to prompt you to call their number. Now, what they are allowed to say and how they say it is supposed to be change quite dramatically.

Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policyholders
If you have had the same Medicare Supplement company and plan letter for at least 3 years, it could be time to see if the price you are paying is still fair and if you meet the health requirements to make a change.
In case you did not know, Supplement benefits do not change from year to year and changing from one Supplement plan letter or company to another is not bound to only the Medicare Open Enrollment time period.

In short, Medicare Advantage plans have little to no added premium and come with a lot of benefits not included with Medicare and Medicare Supplements (dental, vision, gym membership, etc.). However, medical copays and coinsurance can be as high as $8300 per calendar year. Cancer treatments and Skilled Nursing copays have the highest cost potential. Also, depending on the plan, you are advised or required to use providers that participate with the plan's network. Supplement plans usually limit Medicare covered out of pocket expenses to a few hundred dollars per year and allow people to use any provider nationwide.
